To celebrate the importance of family life in the East Midlands, Victoria Centre in Nottingham and I CAN, are encouraging families from across the region to join them for a ‘record breaking’ indoor picnic on Monday 25th May (Spring Bank Holiday) from 1pm - 2.30pm on The Square, Upper Mall, by Jerry’s fish tank.
I CAN and Victoria Centre are jointly supporting National Family Week; the UK’s first ever initiative aimed at promoting good family life and encouraging a more family-friendly culture.
For just £2 per adult and £1 per child, families can join in the picnic extravaganza and enjoy free children’s entertainment and face painting. All funds raised on the day will go towards supporting the work of I CAN’s local school in Mansfield - Dawn House School - and their extra curriculum projects, Holiday Project and Extra Time.
To take part, families need to turn up with a two course lunch and a drink for each of the picnic crew and a rug or blanket to sit on. This will then count towards this historic occasion at Victoria Centre - National Family Week’s Guinness World Record Attempt for the Largest Picnic across multiple venues. Families need to register to make it count and are advised to arrive nice and early to secure their place ahead of the picnic start at 1pm.
We need at least 25 families to take part to make it into the record books so please do help us to spread the word by distributing our e-flyer to anyone who might be interested. For further information contact Liz MacEwen, Press and PR Officer on
