Resources and Info for Practitioners and Parents

The following resources have been developed for/link specifically to this age range and many can be ordered through www.ican.org.uk/resources:

Talk Together – this is a six page booklet for parents and carers of babies, toddlers and pre-school children. 

COMING SOON: Activities for babies and toddlers – this is a set of activities aimed at babies in the first year of life and toddlers from 18 months to 3 years. It is for parents and Early Years practitioners.

A useful factsheet about the use of signing to support early language and communication. This is available on www.talkingpoint.org.uk

The Exploring Communication Development pack – a resource for practitioners to provide sessions for parents to explore how to support their child’s speech, language and communication. The resource includes a brochure and CD with PowerPoint presentation, a copy each of the Ready Steady Talk activity book and Chatter Matters DVD resources and a Stages of Speech and Language Development poster.

I CAN’s Early Talk Accreditation package now includes guidance on the 0-3 age range in the main standards framework. Full details of Early Talk service development package can be found at www.ican.org.uk/earlytalk

In addition, I CAN is able to signpost resources available through a range of organisations to support early speech, language and communication development.
