The Communication Cookbook


The Communication Cookbook is a resource book of activities to support children’s language and communication.

Developed by I CAN and the BT Better World Campaign, it focuses on five essential ingredients that support children’s communication skills, and contains simple recipes to help parents and teachers to develop these in skills in children aged four to six. The five essential ingredients are:

  • Attention and Listening 
  • Vocabulary 
  • Building Sentences 
  • Story Telling
  • Conversations


On the Cookbook section of the Talking Point website you will find free downloadable PDFs of the activities in the Cookbook, and some great online games. Before you access the activities, you must register and log in.

Please include the cost of postage and packaging:
  • For one copy, £3 p&p.
  • For an order between 2 and 20 books, £5 p&p.
  • For orders over 20, £5 for every 20 ordered (e.g. for 41- 60 DVDs, p&p is £15.)
