Chatter Matters
Interacting with children as part of their daily routine is absolutely essential for their mental, social and emotional development.
Today, a huge number of children are starting school at a serious disadvantage because of underdeveloped communication abilities.
This DVD and the posters that come with it explain how you can give children a great start in life by helping them grow into good communicators.
The trick is to use everyday activities – from changing nappies and family mealtimes to shopping and getting ready for bed – as opportunities for playing and talking together.

The Chatter Matters pack was developed through generous support from Openreach.
Openreach provides the foundation for Britain 's telecommunication infrastructure by installing and servicing the ‘First Mile' – the wiring, fibres and connections which link millions of homes and businesses to their Communication Provider's networks.
Openreach engineers visit around 11,000 homes and offices every day on behalf of all Communications Providers. That's 3.6 million visits a year to help install new lines, make repairs, upgrade service and generally deliver a better network for the UK communications industry.
The ability to communicate is a crucial life skill, and through its sponsorship of I CAN and its own First Mile education programme, Openreach is committed to making sure as many children as possible are equipped with the communication skills they need to secure the best start in life.
Openreach’s support increases the reach of I CAN’s work by providing additional funds and making available a network of over 30,000 employees to help distribute material across Great Britain.
