Head of Therapy

Dawn House School, Rainworth
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Annual Salary: £44,111.23

I CAN is the children’s communication charity and our vision is a world where all children have the communication skills they need to fulfil their potential. Serving children and families for over 128 years, I CAN today consists of two special schools, Meath School (Surrey) and Dawn House School (Nottinghamshire); a social enterprise that develops and distributes a wide range of materials, training packages and interventions across the nation; the I CAN Help portfolio of information and advice for parents, carers and practitioners; and is the host for The Communication Trust, a consortium of over 50 organisations in the field of communications. I CAN’s mission is that no child should be left out or left behind because of a difficulty speaking or understanding.  I CAN's Dawn House School (www.dawnhouseschool.org.uk) is a day and residential non-maintained school which provides intensive and specialist support for children and young people aged 5 -19 years who have severe speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and Asperger’s Syndrome. The 79 pupils receive the integrated therapy, education and care that they need to learn and develop independence.

This is an exciting and timely opportunity to join the Dawn House Team.  We are seeking an experienced Head of Therapy who will play an active role as a member of the school’s Senior Leadership Group, contribute to the development, realisation and evaluation of the school’s vision, objectives and the School Improvement Plan. As an experienced therapy professional and manager, you will lead, manage and develop Dawn House School’s Therapy department, play a significant role in the leading the development and management of the school’s activities and contribute to the strategic development of the school and I CAN.

As a key member of the school’s senior team you will make a significant impact in an organisation whose purpose is to help transform children and young people’s lives.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Jenny McConnell, Principal on 01623 795361.

The closing date for all applications: Midday, 23 June 2017 with interviews scheduled for 3 July 2017.
