Common features of a specialist service

All I CAN Early Years Centres include the following key elements:

• They all work with pre-school children with specific speech, language and communication needs (SLCN)
• They all work directly with parents
• They all use a combination of direct and indirect work, individual, small group and large group work
• They all work to promote inclusion
• They all have an adapted nursery curriculum
• They all provide direct or indirect training to other professionals
• They all host visits from interested professionals

• They all use evaluative tools to measure progress and impact including:
  • Questionnaires to parents
  • Questionnaires to professionals
  • Standardised assessments
  • Ofsted inspections
  • Educational assessments
  • Reviews of individual education plans
