Pre-training and accreditation questions:
Developing and Establishing a Supportive Communication Early Years Setting
1. Does your setting provide a service for children under 5 and are you required to engage in Government inspection schemes such as Ofsted and HMIe?
2. Is children’s speaking and listening important to you and the staff in your setting?
3. Do you want to know more about children's speech, language and communication difficulties and how this affects learning?
4. Would you and the staff in your setting like to find out more about children’s communication development and how to support those children who have difficulties?
5. Would you like more opportunities to access collaborative training and support to enhance your knowledge and skills when working with children’s SLC development. For example access to educational advisors and speech and language therapists?
6. Can you show that all children in your care have access to the early years curriculum including those with additional support needs?
If you answered ‘yes’ to at least the first two questions, then the Early Talk package is for you. Early Talk is a quality assurance and work force programme that will help to give early years staff the knowledge and skills they need to support the communication development of all children.
