Schools that Work For Everyone

Schools that work for everyone: new plans to make more 'good' school places

The government has recently announced plans to create 'a school system that works for everyone'. This includes the opportunity to create new grammar schools: selective schools that must meet certain conditions including guaranteeing places for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The policy is still being developed, and we are yet to understand what it will mean for children and young people with SLCN. In the meantime, the government has announced a consultation, seeking views on their plans.

I CAN and The Communication trust will be submitting evidence to the consultation, presenting the importance of supporting good communication skills and highlighting the issues for children and young people with SLCN.
