Meath school staff and pupils complete 'Pyjama Marathon' for I CAN's 125th anniversary

Girls in onsies

Staff and 42 pupils from Meath School completed a relay marathon in their pyjamas and onesies to raise money for I CAN's 125th Anniversary. The staff and children completed the relay marathon on the school field in 50 minutes, after the staff performed a 'Gangnam Style' dance. As 2013 is I CAN's 125th anniversary year of supporting vulnerable children, the charity is encouraging individuals, schools and companies to sign up for the 125 challenge. Meath School staff and pupil are raising money to go towards their £1000 target as I CAN 125 Champions.

Lands End to John O'Groats

cycling to John O Groats

Congratulations to our most recent 125 Champions - Jo and Sarah took on an amazing challenge for I CAN, cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats. Inspired to raise money for I CAN by their friend Maria, a very inspiring mum who holds down a full time job whilst caring for 2 children. Her youngest son, Theo is only 5 but he suffers from severe communication difficulties.

Maria told Jo and Sarah that she had entered a charity cycle ride to raise money for the charities that support children with smililar difficulties.  Sarah and Jo decided to join Maria, to support her in this challenge. They chose the charity I CAN in consultation with Maria as I CAN specialise in children's speech development. Jo and Sarah relished the challenge and put in serious training, they called their team: Thunder Thighs because as they trained, they did not lose weight, but just seemed to be gaining it on quads/hamstrings/calf muscles. They completed the challenge on the 6th October and managed to raise an incredible £2,267.19!

The Wrens

The Wrens

Meet our first 125 champions, the Wrens! This group of 2-3 year olds from St Hilary's Nursery school held a sponsored walk in aid of I CAN's Meath School, with a goal to raise £1,000. They are very proud to announce that they have raised over £2000 thus far! As well as having a tremendous time, the Wrens had their first lesson at rallying together and making a real, positive difference for other children who face greater challenges than most, especially when it comes to communicating with the world around them.

Help the Wrens raise even more.

Virginia Beardshaw, I CAN CEO

Virginia Bearshaw

Our 125 champion Virginia walked across the treacherous sands of Morecambe Bay! Morecambe Bay is known for its 'sucking sands' and quick tides, which make this task more daunting than some. With the help of a Morecambe Bay guide, Virginia took on the famous quicksand and the waist deep tidal streams, and made her way safely across the Bay.
