We are the children’s communication charity. I CAN’s mission is to ensure that no child who struggles to communicate is left out or left behind. Our vision is a world where all children and young people who struggle to communicate receive the help they need so that they can have a happy childhood, make progress at school and thrive as adults.

Central Office 

Our Central Office is located in Central London and is a hive of fundraising, finance, marketing and operational activity. Our specialist team work across the United Kingdom and are made up of experts with a variety of backgrounds in the fields of education and speech and language. >contact us

Two Specialist Schools

Dawn house and Meath School are at the core of our work supporting children with severe and complex speech, language and communication difficulties. Both schools have achieved outstanding plaudits from parents and government departments and offer pupils a unique and supportive learning environment. >find out more

Multi-disciplinary Assessments

Our independent multi-disciplinary assessment service offers a fast-track to getting to the root of a child’s communication needs. The service is wholly independent and will only ever describe the type of support that a child would benefit from not who would provide that support. The service has been especially useful in supporting applications for statements from local authorities. >find out more

Training Courses for the children’s workforce

I CAN provides a range of one day course at the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists in London. Topics covered included English as an additional language, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Behavioural Emotional Social Disorders, to name but a few. We also offer workplace training courses on an equally wide range of subjects. These courses are delivered on client premises, tailored to meet specific objectives and represent excellent value in terms of cost and workforce development. >find out more

Accreditation for the children’s workforce

I CAN is able to support, train and accredit the early years, primary and secondary workforce through our portfolio of Talk Programmes: Early Talk 0-3, Early Talk, Primary Talk and Secondary Talk. >find out more

Campaigning for Children’s communication development

We have been an influential and effective force for the cause of children’s communication. We have been regular contributors to the debate on children’s communication and have produced a range of evidence based papers that have proven topical and inspiring to those on the field of children’s communication.
