Parenting Fund

The Parenting Fund, launched in May 2004 by the Minister for Children and Families, the Rt Hon Margaret Hodge, is a major investment in parenting support distributed entirely through the voluntary sector. Leading family charity, the National Family and Parenting Institute (NFPI), named the Fundholder by the Department for Education and Skills, is distributing the grants to fund projects.

Lord Geoffrey Filkin, CBE, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Children and Families said,

"Good parenting has a greater impact on a child's physical, social and education development than any other influence, which is why it is vital for parents to have the support they need to carry out this invaluable role.

I am delighted that we have been able to fund 134 national and local projects through the Parenting Fund. They will increase the support available to families and will ensure that more children grow up in a safe, stable and loving family environment."
