Training

I CAN Early Talk Training is a key component of the support package provided to Early Talk partnership areas. Early Talk Training aims to develop the skills of early years practitioners so that they are able to support the communication skills of all children, especially those with a communication disability. Early Talk Training consists of three discrete training packages differentiated to meet the learning needs of all early years practitioners, as well as a limited number of bursary’s to help practitioners complete a Masters degree in collaborative practice.

I CAN Training was designed to complement the existing Joint Professional Development Framework (JPDF). The JPDF was developed by I CAN and was endorsed by the Department of Education and Skills, Department of Health, Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and the Teacher Training Agency in December 2001.

Titles of the training packages reflect the learning objectives:

• Supporting communication 
• Enhancing communication 
• Communication specialist
