Conference

The Communication Trust Conference October 2008 - Developing a workforce to support speech, language and communication for all children

We held our second conference at the CBI Conference Centre, London on Friday 10th October.

The conference was a brilliant success and provided an opportunity to explore the issue of workforce development in the context of speech, language and communication (SLC) for primary aged children (including the transition into primary school).

Delegates heard an update from John Bercow about his review and listened to keynote speakers from the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), and the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA).

Delegates also heard an update on the Speech, Language and Communication Framework (SLCF), a competency based framework to support managers and practitioners to assess and plan professional development in the context of SLC.

Other organisations speaking at the conference included:

  • BT Better World
  • I CAN
  • Communication Matters
  • Signalong
  • SMIRA
